Redwood’s Sophomore President, Izek Nelson, ’24 and Vice-President Keira Bixler, ’24 are working on being the voices for their peers. Take a look inside ASB, and what they’re currently working on for Redwood students.

The ASB members’ main focus right now is on Homecoming as it is next week. This year’s theme is Disney which allows students the opportunity to dress up as Disney-related movies and/or characters on its designated day.

ASB’s job as of now is to work on posters, decorations, and Homecoming reveals. The members of ASB enjoy working behind the scenes for all special events that get to happen at Redwood High school.

Sophomore Vice-President, Bixler says, “As a freshman last year in ASB, there’s so much to learn. There’s so many traditions here at Redwood.”

She continues, “Even during Covid, the freshmen had no idea about the small traditions. [From] painting the spirit lane white and blue right before Cowhide, to how we [ASB] make posters.”

ASB spilt up into 10-12 groups and brainstormed ideas for Homecoming.

ASB then took a counting vote for which theme Homecoming would be.

Sophomore President, Nelson says, “It’s kind of nice now that the school is opening back up from Covid. Where there’s all this stuff we could do, like potential games that we didn’t get to do last year.”

Nelson is glad that he is able to be more involved this year compared to last year as a freshman where they [ASB] had to hold ideas over Zoom.

Nelson and Bixler love their jobs representing the sophomore class. They enjoy working on the events that make Redwood the school that it is.

Redwood is a very spirited school. Principal Shin loves seeing the “sea of navy blue” on Fridays as well as past football games.

ASB members, like Nelson and Bixler make sure that Redwood has as much spirit as possible while representing the sophomore class.

The sophomore class appreciates them, and all they do.
