Overall for the season, Hanna Bratsch says, “Overall, I think it went pretty well, but we had a few losses. But other than that, we had a good season and had a lot of fun.” Brooklyn Bailey says one of their strengths was, “Playing as a team, getting along, and loving the game.” One of their weaknesses was, our defense, that’s why we lost some of our games.”
Since it is their last season playing volleyball at Redwood, Hanna and Brooklyn both say they have, “Mixed emotions, I’m happy it’s over, but sad because I know I’ll miss it in a few months.” Throughout the season Brooklyn says, “We bonded really well throughout the season, we had team lunches once a week, and team dinners every Sunday night.”
For the end of this volleyball season, both, Brooklyn and Hanna say, “We didn’t do bad, but we could’ve done better.” Claire Collins, ’19, said that the season didn’t go as well as they wanted it to, but it was still very successful. “We gave it our all and worked very hard.”
One of their strengths was their great team bond. They always came together to work towards winning the game. Claire says that “Our weakness was getting to ahead of ourselves or getting to comfortable.”
The Collins sisters said that they have played together on the same team for all four years. “Its been a really special thing to have her with me. I know I can always turn to her and talk to her about volleyball and there is always someone on the court that I can rely on.” They are not afraid to yell at each other on the court.
Since it is their last year, Claire said that it is very bittersweet. Molly Collins, ’19, said that it is very sad because she loves playing volleyball, but it is also she is happy because it was a great experience. They are both proud of how the season finished even though they wanted to win WYL.
Altogether, volleyball is very close on and off the court. Even though the season did not go how they wanted, it was still a great experience and they learned from it. For the seniors, they will miss the sport but cherished the time they had with the team. The future is bright for these Ranger players.
