Horton has been dancing for 14 years and dancing competitively since she was seven years old. This is her first solo for a dance show.

Tegan says that her solo for the dance show is “lyrical but it has a little bit of contemporary mixed in so a little bit of everything that I like.”

When the time comes to start preparing for a dance, a song, a show, or whatever it may be, everyone prepares differently. Tegan says that when she is preparing for a solo she takes her time going through the whole thing. She says to herself “Okay this is the faces that I should put here’ and think about my technique the whole time.”

Everyone has their favorite part when doing something such as a dance performance. For Tegan, she says that her favorite part of her solo would have to be when she does her elbow stand because they always get a good reaction from it and it makes her laugh.

Since Tegan is in the class of 2023 and is graduating this year and it will be her last dance show at Redwood, she says “I’m really excited but, obviously it’s bittersweet because I’m done after this but I’m excited to continue my dance career next year because I plan on dancing for a cruise line.”

When working with other people team chemistry can be a difficult thing, especially when the group has to redo everything over and over again. “I think it took us a while this year to find our team chemistry when we were cleaning because everyone gets frustrated when we’re trying to figure everything out and do the same thing over and over again. But I think we definitely pulled together as a team at the end of this year and it really paid off” says Tegan.

Tegan says that she is really excited about the dance show and for everybody to come see it.
