Future Farmers of America (FFA) is a group of people involved in agriculture, welding, and raising different animals at the Redwood campus and the Visalia Unified Farm. The adviser of FFA is Mr. Coon, while the vice president is Ella Bovetti, ’20, and Sophie Wasem, ’20, is the president.
FFA is involved in the Tulare County Fair, competing in competitions that include teaching the lambs certain tricks or even selling them. In order to prepare for this competition the members of the club have to raise the lamb by attending the farm “two times a day, one really early in the morning and one at night,” according to Tessa Hemphill, ’22. During the summer people roughly spend about two hours at the farm in order to care for the lambs.
FFA is also involved in other competitions such as a speaking competition in Hanford where they have their opening and closing competitions. A competition that is run on the redwood campus is the creed competition where members recite the FFA pledge. FFA has been pretty successful in their competitions and encourage more people to be involved in their club.
