Love Week at Redwood High School has become an eagerly anticipated annual event, encouraging a sense of unity, compassion, and kindness within the student body and staff. As we delve into the perspectives of both students and teachers, we uncover the multifaceted importance of Love Week, exploring its impact on the school community.

The tradition of Love Week started when former ASB advisor Mr. Miller, wanted students to not only display love for loving partners but for the community at school and beyond.

Love Week showcases its importance and goes beyond that. It holds a universal meaning that resonates with everyone.

Riley Yagel, ’24, who is the vice president of ASB, shares her thoughts on why Love Week is so significant at our school.

She says, “I believe that Love Week is significant to our school because it does not just highlight one person or group of people on campus, it highlights everybody. It doesn’t matter who you are, if you’re in a relationship, you are loved, seen, and heard because love is universal.”

Izek Nelson ‘24 who is the ASB president also says, “I believe that Love Week holds great significance as it reflects the true spirit of Redwood. Its main purpose is to express our love for our school, friends, and family.

During Love Week, students bring a cheerful energy to the school, marked by heart-shaped decorations and affectionate gestures.

According to Ms. Aston, the ASB advisor, Love Week creates a lively atmosphere, creates a sense of belonging, and makes the school feel welcoming.

Ms. Aston says, “I feel like what I see during Love Week is that students have a “pep in their step” and feel like the space is welcoming and where they belong. So I like to think that’s what teachers think about Love Week.”
