Attention all you horror movie lovers! This week’s Halloween movie recommendation is a special one. A Friday the 13th special. Both the original movie, along with the reboot.

Friday the 13th is a classic horror movie film that has become popular in the slasher genre and is known for its iconic masked killer, gory kills, and a spooky camp setting.

It was released in 1980 and was very successful, making $59.8 million and it has stayed very popular throughout the years.

In 2009 though, reboots were being made like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” which started to inspire other movie directors to make them. Soon enough the creators of Friday the 13th decided they should join all the other directors and make a reboot of a fan favorite.

As the original Friday the 13th covers an enraged Pamela (Jason’s mother) going on a killing spree, the reboot makes Jason the killer and more defensive.

Both movies start off differently and have a different plot.

The original starts off with 2 counselors separating themself from a group and Pamela finds them and kills both of them which is the start of her revenge for her son.

The beginning of the reboot starts off with the ending of the original which is Jason’s mother getting decapitated by a couselour named Alice and Jason witnesses this as she was wrong about him drowning.

This starts his spree as he hears a voice in his head “Kill for Mother”.

The reboot doesn’t just share things with the first movie, but the 4th movie as well. The subplot of the 4th movie is a guy trying to find his missing sister and the reboot makes this an actual plot as Clay is trying to find his missing sister Whitney (who got taken by Jason because she shares a similarity to his mother).

Going back to the recently mentioned ending of the first movie with Jason’s mother being decapitated, it didn’t just end with that.

The counselor, Alice was resting on the river in a boat as the terror was finally over but, Jason’s younger self jumped out from the river and grabbed Alice, and dragged her under the water.

That turns out to be a dream but it sure did start the spiral of all 12 movies.

In the reboot, Clay and his sister end up killing Jason with a wood chipper throwing him into a river.

It’s all peaceful until Jason pops up again from under the water and grabs Whitney. This doesn’t turn out to be a dream, but is in fact, real life.

Friday the 13th has made some memorable movies that always gives people a good scare during the dark night of Halloween.

This saga continues to be a thrilling and chilling thing for new audiences and fans.
