Monday, October 22, 2018 was the start of Cowhide week which is one of the most important and exciting weeks at Redwood High School. Especially for the class of ’22 since it is their first Cowhide as a ranger. They get to experience traditions, a great carnival, and crazy dress up days.

A few freshmen girls pose in their Cowhide gear showing strong Redwood Spirit

Brielle Alvarez ’22, is currently the freshmen president. She is “very excited” to see her fellow classmates get involved with the dress up days and see “rival vs. rival” at the game. “I want to see everyone hyped for Cowhide and get really spirited.” Alvarez is thrilled to be representing Redwood.

Alayla Ayala ’22, is the freshman vice president. ” I am really excited to be here at Redwood and it is really great to be on the home side.” As a vice president, Layla wants everyone to participate and show their school pride. Out of everything, Layla is most excited for the game because last year was very intense. ” You guys can expect me all blue on Friday.”

Kyiland Gray ’22, has been waiting and waiting for Cowhide week and is thrilled it is finally here. ” I expect this week for everyone to get involved and just have fun.” To Gray the game will be the most exciting part for him and expects it to be a great experience. ” For Friday I hope to go all out and show my ranger pride.”

Cowhide week is a great way to feel the ranger effect and experience what Redwood is all about. The freshmen will have a great time and they will truly feel like a ranger. This is just one of many “firsts” for freshmen and serves as a great way to get involved with all the classes by showing school spirit!
