Redwood freshmen share how their first day as a freshman went.

For the students of Redwood, the first day of school is the start of a new chapter in their lives, while for the seniors, it marked the bittersweet end of their high school journey. Both groups had their own unique experiences, but they shared in the excitement and anticipation of what is ahead at Redwood.

Starting at a new school can be exciting, nerve-wracking, and make students feel proud of themselves. Coming from middle school to high school can be a big change, and students may need extra support from their friends and teachers to adjust and perform well in their new school.

Gianna Soto, ‘27 shares her thoughts about starting high school. Gianna says, “I was kind of nervous because looking at the campus from outside, the campus looked huge. It’s a big change from middle school. But, I was excited to see my friend and meet new people.”

Hannah Madsen, ’27 also adds, “I’m currently adjusting to my new school, but I’m excited to experience everything it has to offer.”

There are always plenty of events happening at Redwood, including clubs, sports, and theater performances. Also, many students have set academics for themselves for the upcoming school year. With so much going on, no moment is ever dull at Redwood.

Hannah Madison shares how she’s planning on spending her year here at Redwood. She says, “I am not currently involved in anything, but in the future, I would like to join Dance Force.”

As the first day of school begins, students are filled with excitement and determination to achieve their goals. It’s a fresh start and a chance to make progress toward their dreams.

Gianna Soto shared her plan for achieving her academic goals this year. Gianna Soto, ‘27 says, “I’m manifesting a GPA of 3.5 or higher, passing all my classes with BS and A’s, making new friendships, and making amends.”

It’s not just students who have goals in the classroom, teachers have their own set of achievements for the school year too. They’re always looking for new and innovative ways to help their students grow.

Mr. Sprague shares his emotions towards welcoming fresh students and what motivates him to achieve his personal goals.

Mr. Sprague says, “Well, I have a lot of college and careers courses and only one P.E. class, but I like the college and careers class because it teaches kids that they have to start thinking about their future.”
