Freshman Elections are this Friday, September 12th. The candidates that are running share how they feel and what they are doing to secure that vote.
The students are running for Class President are, Carson Woomer, ’29, Ava Parrett, ’29, and Michael Cotta, ’29.
Students who are running for Class Vice President are, Jenavie Estrda, ’29 and Shayne Navarro, ’29.

“I feel good about it. I’m definitely a little bit nervous because I am running against somebody who knows more people. He’s pretty confident in himself with it. So I’m just trying to stay as confident as I can.” Says, Parrett.
With voting happening Friday, students who are running can feel a bit nervous.
Woomer says, “Well, I feel nervous, like, I just have to keep in mind that it’s, like, whatever’s planned for me in life will happen. So if it’s not part of, like, the plan, like, my life, like if it’s not going to happen, then it’s not meant to be. But I do want to win it because I know I could do very well as president.”
Others might have passed experience with being in leadership roles.
Cotta says, “Well, I have prior experience in ASB and just being like a leader overall. Like, I was the eighth grade ASB president at Ridgeview Middle School. And I just think that I have some qualities that Redwood could really use, and I just want to be a great role model for the freshman class.”

Estrda said that she feels great. She hopes that she will be able to lead the class of ’29 and bring a lot of hope.
Navarro says that he feels good about the elections. He says, “I feel pretty good about it. I was pretty well known at my middle school, and then I feel like I’m pretty well known here, and I feel I have a decent shot at making it.”
To make sure that they get the votes, the candidates are posting on social media, telling their friends, or posting posters around campus.
“I’m posting on social media. I’m posting on my story. Today I’m going to go around taking pictures with a pair of sunglasses that say vote Ava Parrot, and then I have some posters hanging up around school.” Parrett says.
Navarro says, “I’m campaigning with posters or, like, just through my friends or anyway I can, really, because I don’t really have money to spend on stuff like fancy posters or anything, and my printer broke at home. So I’m just trying to get by.”
Woomer says that he is also posting posters around campus, and posting on social media. He also says that he has little flyers he’s going to hand out and take pictures with.
Cotta says, “I’m campaigning by using social media to get all my messages [out]. I’m setting up posters around campus…I’m telling people that I’m running, I’m telling them what I’m planning on doing for the school,”
With voting starting 8 A.M. Friday, September 12th, and ends at 4 P.M. all of the candidates are trying to get their last minute votes in. Every vote truly counts.

Estrda says, “I feel like I need to start a lot of kindness, because I feel like that can’t really find that anywhere.”
Parrett says, “I really just hope to contribute as much as I possibly can to our ASB class, to Redwood itself, [and] to our freshman class.”
“If I win, I want to, like, just make things more fun. Like, and I just care about everything in ASB. So, like, I’ll make sure everything is done, not just done, but done well because I feel like that’s what matters the most is if it’s done with quality, because if it’s not done with quality, then it’s not worth doing.” Woomer says.
