With the Cowhide game finally back after taking leave for one year, there is lots of excitement around Redwood getting prepared for the week. During this sacred week, there are lunch time activities and traditions that are kept alive.
Dress-up days are always something that the students look forward to, the students are able to show their Ranger pride and go all-out on the dress-up days no matter what they are.
Redwood’s 2021 Cowhide dress-up days are Monday: “Anything but a Backpack;” Tuesday: “Student/Teacher Flip;” Wednesday: “Trick-R-Treat;” Thursday: “Protect the Hide;” and lastly Friday: “Ranger Herd.”
For day two of Cowhide’s dress-up days, it was “Student/Teacher Flip” day, meaning that students dressed-up as teachers, and teachers as students.
One student walking around campus dressed-up was Emely Luna, ‘22. She says that she is planning to go all-out for every dress-up day.
Dressed-up as a very sophisticated teacher, Luna says, “In the past, I didn’t dress-up much for spirit days, so this year, for my senior year, I’m taking the opportunity to go all-out.”
Being involved with all of the school activities and dress-up days is something that Redwood is known for. Seeing all the students dressing up and being excited to show spirit is something that brings the school together as a whole.
As for the lunch time activity, Tuesday’s activity was “throwback games.”
ASB President, Brielle Alvarez, ‘22 says, “The activity today was super fun, being able to see the football boys compete against each other, but support each other at the same time was great.”
With the lunch time activities, it really gives a feel for all of the freshmen and sophomores on campus to be able to see and feel the life of being a Ranger during Cowhide Week.
Matthew Cortinas, ‘22 also went all-out to dress-up as a teacher, he dressed as Mr. Eskridge.
Cortinas says, “Mr. Eskridge is a walking GOAT [Greatest of All Time], so I had to dress-up as him. I even had a paper beard.”
Wednesday’s dress-up day is “Trick R Treat.” Students can dress in their appropriate Halloween costumes. The lunch time activity is “Easter Egg Hunt.”
