Brianna Lopez, ‘19, has made Redwood’s Top 5 candidates running for homecoming queen. Escorted by Cade Batchman, ‘19, the duo are thrilled to for the opportunity. Here is her in depth interview:

Q: How did you feel when you found out you made top five?

A:It was a really awesome feeling, I feel like I’ve done everything I can now to make the full high school experience. I also got it alongside some of my best friends so that’s cool as well. I enjoy representing my school and this is a super fun way to do it.

Q: What club nominated you and how has your involvement that club changed you?

A: Boys swimming nominated me. Not that I’m involved in boys swimming – I got nominated from them because I’m a 4 year girls member. Swimming has taught me that you can achieve any goal through hard work and dedication, it was also where I’ve made most of my best friends so it has become a big part of my life.

Q: What other extra curricular activities are you involved in?

A: Swimming, Soccer, ASB, FBLA, TAILGATING CLUB, and a few other things. My favorite thing is ASB.

Q: What does Redwood mean to you?

A: Redwood is like my home away from home. I’m here probably more than the average student, it’s a place for me to express myself and my love for the school and kind of transfer that energy onto the students here. It’s just one of my favorite places to be. I love getting involved, getting others involved and showing people why I love this place so much.

Q: What would it be like if you homecoming queen?

A: I would be excited if I won, obviously I love representing my school. But if I didn’t I would be equally as happy, the girls on the court are some of my best friends and i’m just excited to be sharing this experience with them.

Q: What long lasting impact do you hope to have?

A:I just hope that I can make other people want to get involved. High school has been really fun for me because of my involvement. Find something that you enjoy and dive in and out your all into it. Also be nice to everyone, it goes a long way and is a great way to make friends. School is a fun place to be when everywhere you look/go you see friends you’ve made or lives you’ve touched in some way.

A: Why should you be voted for homecoming queen?

Q: I don’t think any one of us is more deserving than the other. We are all in top 5 for our respective reasons. Like I said earlier I’m just glad to be here and I would be happy for anyone because I think we are all equally deserving.

Q: Lastly, is there anything you want people to know about you?

A: As corny as this sounds I just want everyone to make it big, do it right and give it class. That really worked out for me in high school. I think everyone should live by that mantra while at Redwood.

Brianna Lopez is unique and a great representative of what it means to show Ranger Spirit. She’s ready to be your next homecoming queen. You can vote for her on Friday and make sure to go to the Homecoming Game at 7:30 here in the Mineral King Bowl. At halftime the 2018 Homecoming Queen will be crowned!
