Bedroom pop is basically a genre in which artists make their music at home rather than a studio. And it’s FIRE.

Clairo//Song recommendation: 4EVER or Sis

There’s a certain vibe that comes with bedroom pop; low-key, fuzzy, homemade.

Dayglow//Can I Call You Tonight?

Here’s a list of some well known bedroom pop artists:

  • Clairo
  • Mac Demarco
  • Dayglow
  • boy pablo
  • Cuco
  • No Vacation
  • Peach Pit
  • Wallows
  • SALES
  • girl in red
  • Steve Lacy
  • Rex Orange County
  • Beabadoobee
  • Cavetown

This is just a few. Nowadays, lots of of people are making music from the comfort of their homes/bedrooms. It’s so easy, even you could do it!

Why’s this genre of music good?

Nobody can really answer this, it’s just up to personal preference. But! But! Usually, indie/bedroom pop is made from the heart, unlike many other songs that are meant to be mass-commercialized. With this air of authenticity, such music can feel more passionate rather than the same cookie cutter pop music. (No hate towards pop music!!!)

Nonetheless, give it a try!

Wallows//Song recommendation: Only Friend

In a quote from Independent.uk, bedroom pop “radiates otherworldliness while wearing its feeling on its (pyjama) sleeves.”

Steve Lacy//Song recommendation: N-side

Many BP songs fall under the category of Indie too, but not all indie songs are BP and not all BP songs are indie.

Sometimes bedroom pop artists don’t have to sing beautifully or play their instruments super well, it’s just about the overall sound of the track that’s important. A sound that completely fills your brain and sweeps you away into another world. In a way, that must be what music does to people in general.
