During these pressing weeks of the COVID-19 outbreak, California citizens have been required to stay home unless absolutely necessary. Now that we’re all barricaded in our houses, what’s everyone doing to stay active and alive? Find out here!

Sheila Soltani, ‘23, says she takes long walks with her mom around her neighborhood. “Walking is less stressful than running so I prefer it.”

Emma Sanchez-Flores, ‘23, says she does Chloe Ting challenges (which seem to be working) and weightlifting. “Now that we’re in quarantine, I actually have a lot more time to workout.”

Jacob Siegel, ‘23, says, “Wii Fit is my current best friend.” He also mentioned using Just Dance for hours on end, and that it was a serious work out.

Bella Aldridge, ’23, says that since she eats a lot due to boredom (especially nowadays), she uses the ‘7 Minute Workout’ app. “It helps me maintain a healthy weight.”

So now that gyms are closed and sports teams have dissipated, you might be thinking it’s super hard to get in a good workout. ABSOLUTELY WRONG! You have so much to do all around you!

  • Use cans as dumbells
  • Bench press your dog
  • Play tag with a younger sibling and run like your life depends on it
  • Follow some workout videos on YouTube
  • Do a 30 day plank challenge
  • Buy a pull-up bar on amazon
  • Go on a walk or run while maintaining a nice social distance
  • Try a HIIT workout
  • FaceTime friends and have a DANCE PARTY!!!
  • Try crazy yoga poses

There’s seriously so much to do! So don’t get discouraged and take good advantage of this time to really feel healthy and energized despite all the staying home.

Stay safe!
