Remembering the Last: Redwoods Bittersweet Return to Festival Season and its Changes in 2022
The last time any of the local middle school or high school performing arts performed in a CMEA festival was March of 2020; and it would be their last performance before this year. For some students it is a return to a familiar experience, for many it is an unfamiliar event. Jordan Ray; Redwoods Band director and the CMEA festival, shares how the CMEA festival is ran along with the changes being made to this year format.
CAASPP Testing Returns to Redwood High School
For the first time in two years, Math and ELA CAASPP [California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress] testing will be happening at Redwood High School. ELA testing will be on March 15th-18th followed by mathematics on April 26th-29th.
Getting Creative with Metal Shop
Metal shop, one of the three class named shops at Redwood Highschool. Metal Shop is Metal fabrication, welding, and building. It’s a place where students can learn how to weld and fix things related to metal and do more. You can learn how to do more in Metal shop, and these activities can help you later in life.
Smoke Bombs on Campus
At the beginning of the second semester, students started smelling something off putting on campus. There wasn’t plumbing issues or gunk in the river, but instead it was ‘stink bombs’ placed by students.

Varsity Baseball’s First Game of the Season
Redwood men’s baseball played Bakersfield High School, and they overcame the odds and won the game, 10-2. Joey Rico, ’22, says, “I feel like we did very good for our first game. It showed us what we need to work on going forward.” Rico follows up by saying, “I needed to do whatever I can to put the team in the best position to win.”

Boys Soccer Wins First Playoff Game at Mineral King Bowl in over 10 years
