This year was the first back since 2019 when Covid hit for Mr. Harris’s 2D art class. Doing art over zoom was difficult and even overwhelming at times for the students. Being back in real life learning made Mr. Harris a lot happier and hopeful for the year.

“I am so happy that we got the masks off and I’m so happy for the kids to see the faces again. And as soon as we got them off they were one thousand times happier and a thousand times more commutative. So I’m very thankful for things to be normal again. And I hope we stay normal forever.” Harris says.

There are many different types of mediums in 2D art, all can be used to create such powerful pieces. Throughout the year Mr. Harris enjoyed almost all the types of media of 2D art his students made.

“I like digital an awful lot, I like animation an awful lot and painting is fine, it’s all fun! Drawing is fun, charcoal is fun, painting is fun, oil pastel is fun, it’s just fun fun fun.”

He is very passionate about his students’ work and is very much fond of everything they do.

Harris adds “The students did some really neat stuff this year. They did some really neat plazas, some really neat skulls, our digital artist did some really fantastic things on digital this year. So yeah they made some good stuff.”

Mr. Harris is overall very happy on how this year turned out, especially after Covid and not being able to be hands-on, it was a breath of fresh air.

“Hopefully it will be pure normal next year and we can get the kids back into being human beings again and starting moving forward”
