Mr. Pete Siqueiros, the new ASB [Associated Student Body] advisor for Redwood shares his thoughts about his new role.

Coming from Ridgeview Middle School, Mr. Siqueiros was given the position of being the ASB advisor.
Over the summer Mr. Siqueiros and ASB students had training to prepare for the new school year.
“We’ve had probably over 10 work days over the summer just preparing for the new school year. We handed out almost 3,000 super fan shirts [and] we made 180 plus staff name badges.” Mr. Siqueiros says.
ASB had a really big role with helping Freshman’s during their orientation. Mr. Siqueiros said that the team helped with orientation, helped prepare for the first rally of the school year, and the icebreaker dance that happened on August 15th.

Mr. Siqueiros says, “So the first month kind been kind of behind the scenes work with ASB, but overall it’s been super busy, super fun, and just getting to know a lot about the students here in the ASB class, and at Redwood as well as [getting to know] the staff.”
Before coming to Redwood, Mr. Siqueiros worked at Ridgeview Middle School as a P.E. teacher for around 7 years.
“Yeah, so I taught PE for eight years, seven years. I was at Ridgeview Middle School. Teaching 7th and 8th grade PE. And for the last four years of that, I was also the middle school athletic director,” says Mr. Siqueiros.
Being the athletic director or a P.E. teacher has more to it than just making students run, Mr. Siqueiros helped with all sorts of activities.
Mr. Siqueiros was involved in creating students schedules, making sure insurance was cleared for students, and hiring coaches.
“There’s a lot of management with that role, I feel [like it] has given me a lot of experience too.“ Mr. Siqueiros said.
Being at a school like Redwood, where school spirit is through the roof, there are so many Ranger traditions throughout the year.

Mr. Siqueiros says that he’s most excited for Cowhide. He says, “I think the most excited one I’m [excited] about is, Cowhide. I know how big Cowhide is, and it’s something that growing up in SoCal (Southern California), our [high school] football team, didn’t celebrate or didn’t have a tradition like Cowhide.”
Mr. Siqueiros feels excited to lead the ASB students through Cowhide week. Picking out dress up days, lunch time activities, and making decorations for the campus, he’s excited to lead the students through the week leading up to the big game.
“It’s just not me. It’s our entire class and the entire Redwood campus [we’re] working together to make that event pretty special.” Mr. Siqueiros said.
Coming into a new school can be challenging, but with the Redwood staff and teachers, they waste no time into making sure that everyone feels right at home here at Redwood.
“I just want to give a big shout out and thank you to all the staff members who have been helping me out, giving me pointers, showing me around campus and then to all the old Ridgeview students that have come by to say hi and make me feel welcome.” Mr. Siqueiros says.
