“It’s kinda a weird feeling, as I’m excited for this next chapter of our lives,” Makayla Fleming ‘26 explained one Redwood graduate reflecting on the milestone. “But at the same time… you’re leaving most of what you’ve known your entire life behind. So it’s like a weird excitement and bittersweet feeling.”

For Juliet Lazcano ‘26, the moment marks the closing of years of dedication. “Honestly, it feels amazing to finally graduate and see all that hard work pay off,” Lazcano shared. “It’s just a really great sense of accomplishment.”

To celebrate this major life transition, Redwood seniors are planning a wide variety of festivities.

While some grads are keeping it close to home by hosting traditional graduation parties surrounded by a ton of friends and family, others are opting for grand adventures.

Lazcano, for instance, is marking the occasion with a dream trip. “To celebrate, I’m heading to New York City to see *Wicked* on Broadway, which feels like the absolute perfect reward,” she said.

Before embarking on their separate paths, graduates are holding onto the fleeting moments of youth. Fleming noted that they are most looking forward to. She says, “having this last summer, where all of your high school friends are still together before we go off and do our own things.”

Meanwhile, Lazcano is eager for the independence waiting on the horizon, noting that she looks

forward to “the freedom and personal growth that comes with this next chapter of life.”

Looking back, the consensus among the graduates is that high school is entirely what you make it. The ultimate advice left behind for underclassmen? Get involved, because the more active you are, the more fun you will have.
