Jocelyn Gormley, ‘26, is a dedicated member of the Redwood’s competing dance team, Dance Force. They have spent many hours building school spirit through exciting performances and events.
Gormley says, “I was nominated by a Dance Force.”
Gormley’s hard work has not only shown their talent but has also brought together students and the school community, creating a positive impact that reflects the energy and enthusiasm of every dancer.
Her teacher and Dance Force advisor, Mrs. Michelle Lapp, emphasized Gormley’s commitment and character.
Mrs. Lapp says, “I’m super excited that Jocelyn made the top 10. I think she’s an outstanding representation for our teams. She’s been in a dance program for years and on the dance team for 3 years. She’s such a hard worker and has a great attitude. So, I’m just really super excited that she has this opportunity.”
Mrs. Lapp then says, “I feel like she’s just really. A true Ranger, so kind of like someone who really represents what Miss Ranger should be.”
Beyond her experience, Gormley’s leadership style plays a big role in her success. Rather than leading loudly, she focuses on encouraging others and creating a positive environment within her team.
Gormley says, “My club participates in rallies and other school events to raise the spirit in our school. My role in my club is to uplift others on my team with positive energy.”
This kind of leadership has not gone unnoticed by her peers. Tysie Tisthammer, ‘27, another member of Dance Force, says that Gormley’s presence makes a difference, especially during challenging moments.
Tisthammer says, “I think she deserves it. She’s like a good leader on the team. She always like makes the team happy, and as she deserves.”
Mrs. Lapp also says, “Striving for a positive team culture is very important to Jocelyn, so having a unified team and having a team that builds each other up is very important.”
Support like this shows that Gormley’s influence goes beyond her own performance, she helps shape the overall atmosphere of her team.
Gormley’s ability to motivate others and maintain a positive mindset reflects qualities that align closely with what the Mr. and Mrs. Ranger week represents.
