With a year unlike no other, the yearbook team wanted a yearbook theme like no other. This led the Chief Editors to decide on the theme, “Zoom In”.

Chief Editor Sydney Weddle (‘21) stated that “it took a while to come up with because we wanted to incorporate what was going on around us into the theme.”

Weddle comments on the fact that this theme is different from previous years. While earlier themes were strictly Redwood based, “Zoom In” allows students to reflect on how “Redwood was, at the time, all Zoom based.”

Another Chief Editor Alyssa Cantu (‘21) believes students will be surprised when hearing the new theme, as “we’ve never had a theme like this.”

Cantu adds, “it is also a funny play on words for Zoom, making light of the year we have had.”

To make “Zoom In” come to life, the yearbook class focused on individual students and special events they went through: “We did a deep dive so students can see a more in-depth view of what their peers are doing and participating in.”

Yearbook Adviser, Mr. Feehan adds, “I’m really proud of what the yearbook staff have put together. This staff worked like no yearbook team I have seen before to really glean from the whole school what was going on that we didn’t all see; they were amazingly able to find stories to tell every week, even while we were still on lockdown. The yearbook is meant to be a historical document, and this year’s staff really pulled that off. My chief editors- Katelynn Alvarez, Sydney Weddle, and Alyssa Cantu all did an amazing job to pull this staff and this book together.”

Collectively, the Chief Editors are excited to see the yearbook come together and resemble the memorable year Redwood students have experienced.

Mr. Feehan also wanted to add: Since we’re handing out yearbooks in August, we really aren’t ordering many extras, so anybody who wants to buy a yearbook needs to do so NOW, before school is out. Buy online at jostens.com or see Mr. Feehan for more details. We’ll have the date for when we’re handing them out once we have shipping information from Jostens and can come up with a plan with administration. But this yearbook covers EVERYTHING up to and including graduation, so it’s worth it!
