If you are a student transferring to Redwood, it’s important that you read these 10 tips to know what to do during the rest of your time at Redwood.

1. School Culture
School culture is something you should get involved in, as a big part of Redwood is its traditions & history. Understanding the school’s culture will help you become a true Ranger.
2. Good Walking Shoes
Unless it’s some kind of important day, you should not wear dress shoes at all. It’s best to wear tennis shoes or sneakers because uncomfortable shoes give you a hard time due to there being 2 large campuses and a long bridge with a staircase connecting them.
3. Chromebook / Online Use
Whenever people come from a different school, there are many cases where they have never used a Chromebook before. If you are a transfer student, it is very important that you learn how to use a Chromebook since many things like Schoology, PowerSchool, and Google Classroom are important apps when it comes to learning.
4. Plan all of your assignments
Planning assignments is very important, especially for students who procrastinate assignments often. It can help a ton to plan out when you do assignments because just saying you’re “gonna do it whenever you feel like,” and then constantly getting distracted and not doing it can make your grade snowball from missing assignments
5. Apply for Clubs and Extracurriculars
Having clubs not only helps you socialize with people who have similar interests, but also helps you find new hobbies, as long as you take risks and join clubs that are new to you.
6. Don’t be afraid to talk to your counselor
Many people who are new to schools are afraid to talk to their counselor because they are embarrassed about talking about their problems. It’s literally a counselor’s job to be a school therapist. Don’t be afraid to talk about any issues you have with your counselor so they can sort it out.
7. Go to all the games
Going to football games and such are great ways to get involved in Redwood’s culture. Redwood is definitely known for its academics, but its most popular sensation is its football games. It’s a great experience, and when you get the chance, you should go to a Redwood football game
8. Be nice to your teachers
Being nice to your teachers is something you should always keep in mind, because having a good connection to your teacher can make school just a bit more enjoyable. It’s more important than you think to be nice to your high school teachers because, if you didn’t know, when you apply for jobs, you can message high school teachers and ask them to vouch for you.
9. Enjoy high school before it ends
Just because you don’t like going to school doesn’t mean you should rush it. Many people regret not enjoying their high school experience as much as they wanted to. It really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you can’t take back.
10. Don’t stop on the bridge
No matter the scenario, if you even stop on the bridge for just 5 seconds, there’s so much traffic that you’ll hold up everyone behind you. Just be wary of the people behind you during passing period.
To all the new transfer students coming in, enjoy Redwood!
