Boys Basketball: Last year, the Redwood Boys basketball team finished at 20-10. They finished well above the National Average for points per game, field goal %, rebounds per game, assists per game, steals per game, and blocks per game. The one category that they lacked in was blocks per game, which was at 2.5 blocks per game. Then again, Redwood lost a lot of their best players this year, due to graduation. However, La’Dre Aguilar is our most promising returning star on the court. Hopefully, he’ll be able to lead our boys into the WYL title!

Girls Basketball: Last year, the girls finished 16-11 overall, and 10-2 in League. They had a win percentage of .593%. Hopefully, the girls can keep up their winning ways this year. The team was led by Janessa Haro and Clarissa Chavez, there were 5 freshmen, 5 juniors, and one sophomore, so no one graduated, unfortunately though, in playoffs they lost in the quarterfinals to Mission Oak. They are a strong, young team that could potentially make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

Boys Soccer: Last year, the team finished 18-6-2 overall, and 9-3 in league. Unfortunately, we lost our 2nd best goal scorer, once again, due to graduation. Not only that, but Redwood finished well under two of the categories on maxpreps.com, which are Goals against average, and saves per match. Other than that, Redwood scored 62 goals, which is well above the national average. They lost in the Valley Championship game in PK’s and played great, hopefully they can go back and redeem themselves.

Girls Soccer: One year ago, the team finished with a record of 18-5-4 overall, and had an unbeaten record of 11-0-1. It almost looked like WYL was not even a challenge, as they did not lose. They shot more than the national average, and they scored more than the national average. Our best goal scorer, Evan House, scored 16 goals! It is a young team with two college commits so far, hopefully more come in the future!

Boys Wrestling: Last year, the boys finished their season 7-1. The returning team is very  young, meaning there are only two seniors left. Their best returning guys are Alex Rodriguez, Jarron Sullivan and Freshman Xavier Jimenez. It may be difficult for them to win WYL this year, since they are in a rebuilding stage. Possible contenders are Hanford, Lemoore, El D., and unfortunately, Mt. Whitney.

Girls Wrestling: Last year, the girls finished with a 10-6 record to secure a WYL title! So far, there isn’t much to predict, since the season has just barely started, and since the teams are so good this year, but nonetheless in the words of Coach Orosco, “it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.” The girls have some incredibly good seniors that should lead them to victory. Their coach seems pretty confident that they will be able to the WYL title this year. Finally, in the words of their coach, “The teams we face in WYL will all be tough. Nothing is tougher than the WYL season.”

Well, it seems as though our winter teams are on track for an awesome season!(All info found on Maxpreps.com, Krissy Hetherington, and the wrestling coaches.)
