With the new year, Drama has already prepared and started planning to have a Fall play later this semester on November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  It’s called, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Tryouts were in Mrs.Galvan’s room (room 15) during Tuesday, the 28th, and the second round was Wednesday, the 29th.  There will be callbacks today at 6 pm today, the 30th. Students were able to sign up for the auditions by filling out the paperwork that indicated what they were are trying out for and the voice they chose for the piece of dialogue they wanted.

When asked what Drama class was up to Stephen Shackelford, ‘22, said, “Drama is getting ready for auditions and what parts we want to play (in the play).” All the drama students seemed very busy with the start of the new school year. Many performances will be prepared and made this year by the drama class. The performances include, plays, one acts, and the annual musical. Redwood should look forward to the new content that this year’s drama team will produce.

There are many reasons why students join drama, Madison Martin, ‘22, said that she is, “planning to meet new people and to see how far I can go.” Although being on stage is not for everybody, drama allows students to experience that kind of environment without any pressure or fear.

The drama teacher herself shared the dynamics of her class and some information about the play. Mrs.Galvan said that the Fall play is a radio play, which is when performers act with their vocals instead of their bodies. She also said,“It takes a lot of research and for me it’s about how I’m going to present it to the students. I actually do twice as much more than the students.” Both the drama students and the teacher work with their best efforts throughout the year to provide the best shows for the community. Galvan concluded and said, “We have a lot of fun and laugh a lot at rehearsals, but we also work hard to put on a quality product.”
