Redwood’s student gamers were asked for their recommendations and opinions on video games.

Here is what these Rangers had to say:

Thomas Cutler 24’ says he likes to play Super Smash Bros with his friends on the Nintendo Switch. He says that it is “ fun to mess around and do dumb stuff in the game”. When asked if any videos games were less than he expected, Cutler said “Not really, a lot of my thoughts on if I will like a game are pretty spot on”

Cutler says that he recommends the game Hades. A game where you are, “trapped in the underworld and are trying to discover your past by getting out.” Cutler stated that there are no new games he is excited for. However, he enjoys playing current video games with his friends after school.

Israel Llerenas ‘26 says that his favorite game currently is Rocket League. A competitive online game where you play soccer with vehicles. He says, “What I like about it is that I’m better than my friends and it is cool to play.”

As a baseball player himself, Llerenas was not impressed by MLB the Show 2022 and says “ I thought it would be good but it wasn’t. There weren’t really good cards on it.”

Llerenas recommends the game Fortnite to others because he “loves playing it and it is a great game to play.” He shows interest in Fornite because it is an animated battle royale shooting game that you can play online with friends.

Matthew Murrell ‘23 is an avid video game player who also had lots to say about the gaming world. A few of his favorite video games right now are, Super Smash Bros and Minecraft.

Murrell enjoys the “strategy and precision involved” with Super Smash Bros and enjoys playing it with his friends. He enjoys Minecraft because of the “relaxing nature of the game” and he has found that it can be a stress reliever for him.
When it came to the game Minecraft Dungeons, Murrell was not impressed and said, “I thought I’d enjoy the genre more than I did.” Murrell ended by saying, “ Gaming is just a wonderful world.”
