This Friday is absolutely insane! The Cowhide Assembly is happening before lunch and lasting nearly an hour then leading straight into an 83 minute lunch period before 5th period. Most of the students here at Redwood believe that lunch isn’t long enough and think it’s unfair that lunch is only 35 minutes. I bet teenagers out here are pretty excited and glad that lunch is longer now for Friday (one of the best days of the week).
So here are a few ideas of what you can do or what students are choosing to do during the extended lunch specifically for Cowhide day.
Opinion #1– Just chill out, go to the cafeteria, have some food and simply hang out with friends. After the assembly, a lot of students have no idea what to do and become anxious. Take a chill pill, laugh a little bit and just have lunch with friends or colleagues on campus.
Opinion #2– Go off campus with friends or even just by yourself. Maybe you don’t want to eat the school gruel, you can simply show your ID card to one of the administrators by one of the gate entrances/exits and go somewhere. Doc’s, Four Seasons, Togo’s/Baskin-Robbins, Taylor’s Hot Dogs, A&W and Smart and Final are perfect lunch destinations for Redwood Rangers. Since there is more time, students may even choose to go to places with longer waits but better quality food or go further away from school than usual.
Opinion #3– Get picked up by mom or dad and go home to eat lunch. Pick up the phone, dial for ma or pop and go home to eat some homemade, cozy food with love in it or get food with your parents because spending time with them makes them feel more appreciated and loved. Some seniors have a free fifth and sixth so they could just go home for the rest of the day.
Opinion #4– Go to the Cowhide Carnival! You can take some time out of your lunch and spend it at the Cowhide Carnival, held by ASB. There are games, a jousting ring, and tons of food including: A&W, Dickey’s, and Amigos burritos. Get involved in the Cowhide spirit
