Redwood’s performing arts always succeed to amaze audiences with everyone’s talent, and of course, the work done behind the scenes. Although the productions are great, how much effort and hard work does it really take to make the show perfect? Student living is challenging already, but when involved in acting it gets a tiny bit harder, but totally worth it in the end.

The Struggles

Kelsey Myers ’21

School is very hard for students already when there are many projects and assignments, along with lots of homework. Extra activities such as acting can make students feel somewhat stressed. Kelsey Myers ’21 enjoys acting and is participating in Redwood’s musical. During plays and musicals, Myers feels “like everything moves faster and faster, making me stressed.” One of the biggest struggles to Myers is “trying to manage homework…”

Noah Estrada ’22

Although there are many challenges, a lot of students feel rewarded in the spotlight. Noah Estrada ’22, decides to get involved in acting with Redwood he is, “always excited for rehearsals.” Another exciting time for student actors is “when opening night comes around because it is a lot of fun.”

If you are interested in acting, you should definitely get involved! Anyone can begin to get involved by simply joining drama class or attending an audition for Redwood’s musicals and plays. Usually students talk about audition dates or it is announced in the bulletin. For more information, Mrs. Galvan can help in room 15.

Student actors go through many struggles, but the hard work always pays off because the performances are very rewarding. Come and see The Wizard of Oz Feb. 6, 7 and 8!
