Students on Vista and in the locker room are left hungry, as the cafeteria lunch line fills up with hungry students from the main campus.

Even as students try to rush to get across campus or switch their clothes, they get to the lunch line and it is already full. We need to do something about it.

Students on Vista experience traffic on the bridge, as they head to lunch daily. When they arrive at the cafeteria, the lunch line is huge. This leaves students not wanting to eat lunch or waisting a large portion of their 35 minute lunch.

One solution to this issue could be to let out students on Vista before students on the main campus. This would give the students, coming from Vista, a couple of extra minutes to get to the cafeteria. This is a fair way to give both campuses and equal chance of getting to the front of the line. Jocelyn Palomino, ‘22, says, “I honestly feel like kids from Vista should leave earlier, so we can have the same amount of time that other people do, so we can get our lunch.”

Another student, Justin Raymond ‘20, says that, “I usually go to the cafeteria for lunch and I usually have to wait about 15-20 minutes for the line to die down and then I usually go and get lunch.”

Raymond also told us that “especially with being in sports after school you do not really have time to eat everything you need to do to get energy for that sport after school so it really impacts of how you are going to do in that sport.”

After PE, students are expected to change within 5 minutes. Most of the time the bell rings and the students are just arriving at their lockers. How are they supposed to change that quickly?

By the time they are done changing and out of the locker rooms, all the other classes are out and those students have to wait in crowded lines to just get their food. “It’s is almost unfair, I feel like I am at a disadvantage” says Xavier Jimenez, ‘22.

Students on Vista and in the locker room are at a disadvantage because they are forced to wait in a long line, waisting away their lunch, or not eat lunch at all. A solution needs to be made for this challenge as the Ranger population increases.
