There is a lack of bookstores in Visalia, even a lack of record stores. But as of recently Barnes and Noble has been brought back to Visalia on South Mooney Blvd on January 31st. This bookstore has much to offer for readers, writers, music lovers, and more!

There used to be a Borders bookstore in Visalia which was owned and acquired by Barnes and Noble back in the 2000’s. There hasn’t been a major retail bookstore since its closure until now.
When you first walk into the new Barnes and Noble, you can find a coffee shop inside the establishment where you can study, read your new book, and even just sit and relax while enjoying a drink.
The bookstore is huge and sells records, CDs, books, plushies of book characters, and anything you could dream of finding in Barnes and Noble.
There’s a manga section, a fiction section, and practically every genre of books. The records and CD section of the store is full of well-known musical artists and vintage tracks from before the 2000s.
The store gets packed quickly, some choose to study or read in the book sections, it’s quiet and seems relaxing for many looking for a less chatty place.
The endless amount of books makes it enjoyable to walk around the store because each corner you turn, there is always something new and exciting to see. The store is packed with good reviews from the community that has been begging for a larger bookstore to open in Visalia.
The only downside of the bookstore is the line to wait to check out, but they aren’t more than 10 minutes long, except for when it’s Friday or the weekend when the store gets very packed. They sell nicknacks that benefit reading near the checkout such as lights for reading and cute animal bookmarks. They also sell e-readers/tablets if you prefer reading on a screen instead!
The new Barnes and Noble is a welcoming bookstore and is recommended for any age who enjoys reading and listening to music. It is even great for anyone who just wants to check out its wide variety of items other than books.
