Mya Ables ’20 was nominated by cheer. She was the first homecoming nominee to be announced during the rally. As she walked forward when her name was shouted from the speaker, she received her crown and sat down with her escort, Julian Sanchez.

Many people were happy with the results of the top 5, but do we really know them as well as we should?

Ables loves doing cheer and enjoys participating in school activities, “I’ve been doing every dress-up day, always trying to do it so that you could actually see I dress up and do lunch time activities- that’s how I’ve been involved.” Ables has had a wonderful experience making the the top 5 and is a great way to show her school pride.

Ables doesn’t feel as if being in the top 5 is a burden or a drag because she has lots of fun, “it’s fun being able to be recognized for something I like doing, which is cheer, and being able to do the dress up days, and the little lunch activities with the other nominees.”

She isn’t just a nominee, Ables is a student who enjoys representing her school. Her fun activities keep her up and moving, and remind her of how she represents her school in her own way.
