Usually, during the winter time, not many families head out to the coast because of the temperature. However, Morro Bay is still a wonderful place to visit with family or friends because of the scenery and the wonderful things you can do there. But the weather does play a big part in what you do. The winters do get very chilly and don’t allow for a good spot for summer activities. Since it is cold, here are some things you can do instead of swimming.

Things to Do at Morro Bay:

  1. Clam Chowder Bread Bowl- Morro Bay has some of the most delicious sea food in the bay. There is a near by sea food place and it serves tasty bread bowl with fresh, warm clam chowder to fill up those hungry tummies. So if you are in the mood for something soup like with some sea food included , there is a place for you!
  2. Watch the Sunset- Morro Bay, in the evening, the sunsets really put on a display. With bright colors, including yellow, orange, red and purple. The sunset will not disappoint and there will be no regret in wasting time watching this beautiful piece of scenery.
  3. Go to Morro Rock- Known to be one of the biggest events to do is go to Morro Rock. Not only is the big piece of rock beautiful and a great selfie spot, but nature surrounds it in the form of sea otters. It is a huge part of Morro Bay and is one of the biggest attractions to experience.

One Con of Morro Bay

It is very cold so it is not a good idea to pack T-shirts and shorts. According to Aaron Nelson, “Assuming it is going to be warm when the sun is shining,” is a bad idea. You will be miserably cold the whole day. SO prepare yourself with hoodies and sweats.

Morro Bay is a beautiful place to go and has its pros but the weather will trick you if you are not prepared. So make sure to have warm clothing so that you don’t freeze. The food is very good, so make sure to visit the local sea food restaurants. Visiting Morro rock will allow for some fun photos and a perfect view. The sunset is also a pretty thing to watch at the beginning of a long day.
