In the festive fall production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” the cast of Redwood High School drama transports the audience to the 1940s and puts on a show thats so incredibly unique.
Within this radio play a wide range of sound effects are done by a foley crew who create sounds of playing records, tires screeching, loud bangs, and accurately mimic any noise that comes to mind. There is always so much to look at with in every scene and you will find yourself trying to soak up every facial expression of the actors, whether they are center the stage or standing to the side.
Mrs. Galvan, Redwood High-school’s drama teacher and director, never fails to impress with her creative ideas and perfect casting. In the lively town of Bedford falls, the main character George Bailey roughly rolls with the challenges of life and has the trip of a lifetime.
This play is truly for everyone because there are so many different factors and elements that make this play memorable. Somehow this play is able to meet the requirements of a tale for dreamers, romantics, and for friendships, but most of all the importance of life. Many times on this opening night the audience was laughing and enjoying themselves because the humor of this play was so light hearted.
What made this play so exciting was the the talented actors who completely step away from their personalities and fully invest themselves to their characters. From cocktail attire and pinups to trousers and ties the cast could not portray the 40s any more accurate than they did. The amount of time and dedication put into this play was obvious and it is clear to see that it payed off.Megan james and Sarah Jackson doing Foley footsteps/dance.
Sofia Smith 19′ played the role of “Tilly” and said said she truly enjoys being in the safe and loving environment with her talented cast members”.
Naimh O’Donoghue 20′ played the role of Clarence Oddbody and said ” The hardest part of rehearsal had to have been the timing of the noises made by the foley cast and actors knowing when to speak so they don’t intermix”
