Whether it’s Sadies or Spring Fling this dance is easily known as one of the most exciting. There always seems to be a debate as to what it should be called. The title Sadies Hawkins is the same name our parents recognize and remember the dance they also probably attended.
Maybe changing the name to spring fling is for the better? Maybe it just needed to be updated and changed to a more “modern name.” Although Sadies is more frequently referred to with this title spring fling could be the beginning of a new legacy. The majority of students still call it Sadies while the other half call it Spring Fling. Spring fling is a way of getting ready for the spring weather so the dance is a perfect way to kick off the positive weather vibes. Many people have made their Instagram captions for Spring Fling, Sadies and everyone has the same idea.
This dance is meant for girls to ask the boys to the dance. This would also mean the ladies pay for the dinner since they’re the one asking the boys to the dance. This is one of the few times where girls can really step up and be super creative. Whether the poster says Spring Fling or Sadies, the boys should already know what this spring dance has in store.
Anessa Merril 20’ said “ I’ve always known it as Sadies because it has always been like that. I don’t think the name spring fling has affected me in anyway it’s literally the same.”
This years theme was eras so the options were absolutely unlimited. People took on spring fling …. Or sadies, by creating a look of the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s ,60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. The decades gave everyone a chance of creating different looks from suits and ties to jogging attire.
It’s fun because you can choose to not spend too much money for the dance and still have a lot of fun. Whatever idea you decided to take on for the this dance of a lifetime always remember that Sadies is the OG.
