Being a part of the Redwood Volleyball team is something to celebrate on its own; The idea of playing Varsity at Redwood is the celebration.
Alyssa Hutchison, ’28, said, “I’d say that it’s truly a team effort; each person just pushes each other to ensure that we are trying as hard as we can…[while] obviously winning helps, so when we get those wins we really use it to our advantage to keep that energy up,” when showing her feelings about a disappointing performance.
It is impossible to stay confident after a challenging game, especially if you are thinking of what else could come.
These young women strive to be incredible at practice, games, and especially tournaments.
Being amazing players is not always about how they play; it is also about how they replenish themselves.

Kendall Coffia, ’29, said, “I just get it in my head to have a positive mindset as well as eating healthy before and after a game so I am able to be the best I can.”
Along with Coffia, Hutchison, ’28, shares, “For a tournament, I just make sure to eat well and properly fuel myself so I have energy for the week; I also make sure to get ready in my head so that I am mentally prepared for the large amount of games we play.”
Every sports season must eventually come to an end, but for dedicated and passionate players, they may want to keep their passion going.
Lily Condit, ’28, said, “I was pulled up to varsity at the end of my sophomore year…[and I may play] in college, but I am not sure. I might try to go to COS and play with them.”
To start the game on a good note, Coffia, ’29, gives us her hype song, ” ‘When She’s Gone’ by Lou Deezi.”
Redwood would not be who they are without sports; Volleyball players have controlled their emotions and daily lives to become the team they are now.
