On April 28 2022, Redwoods Choir performed “Vivaldi’s Gloria” that took place at the Presbyterian Church, putting on a wonderful performance for everyone who was able to come.

Students involved gave up a lot of time showcasing their hard work, the choir could not even sit in the back of the church, because there were too many people that wanted to see them all perform.

One of the performers, Jacob Lucio ‘24, shares how exceptional he felt at that time, he says, “they all waited outside of the church until it was our turn, you always expect some people to be in the audience, but you never expect a full house.”

Choir had been busy working on this performance since January along with their time preparing for the Spring concert, but they managed to cheerfully perform all 11 songs( of Vivaldi’s Gloria). “I don’t think there’s any better feeling than performing something you have been working on for months and months,” Lucio said.

Camryn Deisman ‘22  adds, “This is something that I will remember when I go to college for music, which is something I am super happy about. This was our last formal or classical concert of the year, making it my last in high school, which is a little bittersweet.”

The extent of practicing also paid off amazingly as well. Deisman said, “During the process we had part testing to make sure that everyone was getting their part. We also had rehearsal with the orchestra to make sure everything was running smoothly. I felt that all of these things helped us sound more confident, and perform to our best abilities.”

Presleigh Anderson ‘23, another performer adds, “Even with the most challenging songs, we were able to pick it up fairly quickly.”

When it was time for the choir to showcase their passion for singing, Anderson expressed that “While singing, I loved when we would sing these magnificent chords and we would all end at the exact same time and it would be silent; It’s a blessing to be able to sing and make people become emotional because of what you sing. Those are really special moments that we experience and also get other people to experience as well.”

She adds onto the overall experience as it felt, “symbolic and beautiful.”
