On January 14th, 2 awards were given to students that stood out in exceptional ways.  These two awards were given to Ethan Lewis and Alisha Rivera, class of 2020. The awards given are from specific departments that these students strive in.  Mr. Shin, Redwood High School’s principal presented the awards to these outstanding students at the Visalia Unified School District office.

Ethan Lewis, ‘20, was selected for the Social Science Outstanding Student Award.  He was chosen by his teacher and head of the history committee, Mr. Vieira. “Ethan is one of the hardest working students that I have had the pleasure of working with,” Vieira says.

Lewis was very happy when he was selected for this award. When it comes to schoolwork, he takes it very seriously and strives to do his best. “I want to be a history teacher when I grow up, so that is the subject that I have devoted the most time to.  It makes me very excited that I got this award,” Lewis says.

Lewis is a very outstanding student and he was definitely recognized for all the effort he has put in to get the award that he wanted. He is a prime example of hard work paying off.

Alisha Rivera, ‘20, was the other student that got an award, and she was selected for the consumer family study department outstanding student.  Alisha’s health and nutrition teacher, Mrs. Garcia chose her for this award. “We can ask her to do anything and confidently know it will get done well.”

Over the four years at Redwood High School, Rivera has taken a health class, life management, foods and nutrition, and a culinary class. She has come a long way in order to really earn this award, and she has definitely worked hard with the time that she has had here at Redwood.

When Rivera completes her pathway at Redwood, she will be certified for any entry-level job. Rivera was very happy to see all of her hard work going somewhere because she really enjoys these classes with the consumer family study department.

The social science outstanding student award and the consumer family study department outstanding student award were very well earned by these fantastic students.
