Mock Trial is a club that allows students to dress up as professionals from the judicial branch and, with the help of their adviser, Mr. Adams, they compete in many competitions all around the state.
As Club Day comes and goes, Mock Trial gets ready for a huge change in their number of judges and government officials.
Mr. Adams expresses his opinions on the effects of Club Day by saying, he “needs to make sure that we are maintaining interest among the student body.” As students move on, Club Day is very important to Mock Trial by making sure that the club still hooks student interest.
Before Club Day began, the group had different expectations of how it might go. As a member of Mock Trial, Rylie Jundt, expresses how she was “expecting a lot of people, like we always do.”
Every year more students from the Law Academy join Mock Trial like Rylie did. Many students were coming up to the table and grabbing flyers. With Club Day ending, there were a lot of students that were interested in the club and decided to join. Club Day did indeed exceed their expectations.
Over time, the club has competed in many competitions, causing the club to have accomplished many goals and overcome many challenges. Mock Trial has a great group that travels all over.
Mr. Adams summarizes this by saying, “We have won County for the past 6 years in a row. We actually have many more County titles than that since we are on a bit of a streak.” He also states later on that Redwood mock trial alone came in 11th last year.
This year they are very excited to have more students continue their streak. A new beginning means more wins and more fun for the Mock Trial.
