How Redwood student voices can be a solution to some problems on campus.

Redwood has always been a student-dominated campus. How could it not, with a population of over 2,500?
Students have been the leaders in taking charge of events and school wide celebrations to setting up clubs and community events around Visalia. Students are more than capable of leading, so why not let them?
Redwood High School’s principal, Dr. Brandon Gridiron, agrees on letting student voices help lead the environment on campus, believing in the importance of student opinions and ideas.

In the past few weeks, Dr. Gridiron and his administration have sent out student surveys, asking kids about on-campus problems and how they feel about them.
The surveys asked kids how they would like to see their campus progress and grow and how they would like to see on-campus issues be addressed.
“We can’t create an experience in an environment for our student body without seeking [students’] input. And so we have to do a better job at creating channels so that way you guys can provide us input,” says Gridiron in an interview, commenting on the need for student voices in administrative decisions.
The aim is to make on-campus life more comfortable and student-led as new policies are introduced. Dr. Gridiron and the administration aim to make new policies and the reasons behind them known to students before being put in play, to make sure the students understand and aren’t confused and so that they can voice their opinions and help possibly make the policies even better with their perspective.
