When you think of a musical you typically think of the dancers and the singers, but never the music. In reality the main part of a musical is the music.
Keoni Morales ‘24 expresses “I’ve been practicing for as long as I can get practice, my schedules are kinda tough to work around but you manage.”
Although most of those playing in the pit have difficult schedules to work around because they are students and teachers they still do so because it’s something they want to do and also enjoy doing.
Kyla Seitz ‘22 adds, “I’m really excited! I love playing music and getting challenged within that, and what I have to play for the musical and the level of perfection I’m expected to play at is definitely a challenge! I want to go into music as a career, so it’s a great opportunity for me too in that regard.”
The pit has more than one influence on its musicians. They can have fun with it but it also gives them an opportunity to challenge themselves.
Mr. Ray the band director says “Due to covid and schedules we haven’t been able to get a second guitarist.”
Although there were a few problems they have figured it out and are ready to perform.
Ms.Board the pianist says “Musical rehearsal started back in late October, but we’ve been in the theater for the last three weeks. I love every minute of it, it’s a different form of collaboration with the students and put together a great piece of art for the performers.”
The pit has worked very hard these past couple months on getting their music down and are very excited to be in the pit during this musical.
