Redwood’s California Scholarship Federation, better known as CSF, recently announced its officers for the 2021-2022 school year.

Like most clubs, the officers have different responsibilities in order to have activities, meetings, and other club business to run smoothly.

CSF contains the roles of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Junior Associates.

This year, CSF has the honor of having Brynlee Rasmussen, ’22 as President, Bailey Nelson, ’22 as Vice President, Kyla Seitz, ‘2) as Secretary, Madison Allan, ’22 as Treasurer, and Kylie Schieferle, ’23, along with Leena Aziz, ’23, as the Junior Associates.

The 2021-2022 CSF President, Brynlee Rasmussen, ’22 tries to be involved as much as she can outside of CSF to learn to work hard and multi-task.

She dances both on the Redwood Dance Force team, and at Dance Arts. In addition, she is involved in playing the piano and running. She also is active in the Students Against Human Trafficking club and involved in church leadership.

When asked about why she joined CSF, she said, “I wanted to be part of a club that all had a drive toward bettering themselves to be the best people they can be.”

She adds, “I will be working alongside next year’s CSF advisor and will be helping to plan the general meetings, helping to coordinate membership drives, helping to set up community service projects, helping to get people more involved, and helping to encourage students at RHS to strive for high academics and to be useful and reliable community members.”

She states, “My favorite thing about the club is the unity. The club advisor, the club officers, and each of the CSF members work hard towards encouraging one another and helping one another, including one another and helping each other both on and off Redwood’s campus!”

“I hope to spread positivity, encouragement, and acceptance both within Redwood, and outside of Redwood as the RHS CSF President. I want students to know that I care for them each and their goals and their aspirations in life, and that I’m trying to push each of them towards working hard with high academics with the hope that they can achieve those goals of theirs. I also want to make service a more integral part of Redwood and CSF and stress the importance of effort to all CSF members and the importance of giving back to a community that gives so much to us.”

The 2021-2022 Vice President, Bailey Nelson, ’22 plays water polo, is on the swim team, and is a member of Redwood’s choir outside of CSF.

According to Nelson, the duties as Vice President include, “supporting the president in any way possible”.

Nelson’s favorite thing about being a part of CSF is the “community”.

“I hope to unify our community further!”

Like the other officers, the 2021-2022 CSF Secretary, Kyla Seitz, ’22 has hobbies outside of CSF including music, history, and political activities such as mock trial and political activism, according to Seitz.

When asked why she joined CSF, she says, “I joined CSF to try and get more involved at Redwood and the community. CSF is a club full of high achieving, academic scholars and I felt that I would fit in well and find others who were as motivated as me.”

With the role as Secretary, Seitz will be, “in charge of taking notes, organization, and other tasks like that. [She] will also be Mrs. Cheatwood’s [CSF advisor] TA [Teacher’s Assistant] as part of the position.” Seitz says.

She adds, “I love the projects we get to do through CSF and the opportunities I get that I wouldn’t have before! Recently, Redwood had a blood drive through CSF and that was the first time I had ever donated. Now, I try to donate as much as I can!”

“Through my position, I hope to foster more of a sense of community both in CSF, and Redwood as a whole. I also want to help the diversity of Redwood to be reflected through CSF.”

She joined CSF because “It’s a club dedicated to academic excellence,” states Allan. She adds, “Being a part of CSF really motivates you to get good grades and do the best you can in your classes!”

She further adds, “It’s also the biggest club on campus and such an easy way to make friends and get involved both at Redwood, and our community in general!”

Her duties as Treasurer include being responsible for the money and finances of the club. She is also responsible for figuring out CSF’s budget and how they will use their money.

Her favorite thing about CSF is “how amazing our members are!”

She adds, “My favorite thing about CSF is the ability to come together as a team, and share our hopes and ambitions to not only better Redwood, but to unite students nationwide!”

“I hope that being on the CSF leadership team will help me make Redwood a better place!”

She adds, “My favorite thing about CSF is having a platform to shed light on the importance of a strong community!”

She continues to describe her excitement for, “…having the opportunity to broaden [her] involvement at Redwood with people with similar work ethics and goals!”
