The corona virus brings up a lot of stress and worrisome in everybody. It is important to find ways to relax while staying safe. Fellow Ranger students have given their own personal ways on how they de-stress.

Seneca Sowers, ’22 finds comfort and happiness in spending time with her family. Being with her family helps her reduce her stress and stay calm. One way she likes to uplift her mood is by working out. By working out she gets her mind off of the stressful things currently going on. Sowers is “keeping a positive mindset” through these tough times. She keeps herself busy and focused with her school work. She wants to be the “best student athlete” that she can be. Even though there are a lot of negative things, she is focusing on the happy moments.

Like Sowers said, working out is a great way to de-stress. Doing at home exercises and following YouTube workouts can help reduce stress. Yoga is also known to be relaxing and have physical benefits.

Kaitlyn White, ’23 winds down by lighting a candle, listening to music, and vibing out. She also enjoys watching good movies. She says “I try to think about what I can look forward too, rather than what is holding me back.”

Ally Zamora’22 keeps herself busy during quarantine. She has created a routine and feels much better with it. She likes to do at least “one productive thing a day, whether it be exercise or writing.” Zamora even found a new hobby for herself which is painting. She feels relaxed and focused when she is painting. She reduces stress by swimming and spending time with her family. Her outlook is “although it is bad, we are getting through it together.” She believes that we should do all we can and we will become stronger for it.

Finding new hobbies or activities are also good ways to relax. Learning how to paint or draw can end up being really fun along while also being relaxing. Cooking or baking is another activity that can be very beneficial to learn.

Kendall Valenzuela,’22 finds peace within her religion. She is putting her faith in God and reading the bible. Reading the bible helps her lessen stress and makes her feel better mentally and spiritually. She believes that “sometimes it isn’t about staying positive but learning to accept it and go with it.” This time is tough but we need to accept it and keep on moving forward.

Along with doing physical activities, spiritual ones can also help reduce stress. Meditation or praying can help someone stay calm and find guidance.

There are many ways to de-stress like working out, arts and crafts, and meditation or praying. Hopefully these fellow rangers have inspired you to try something new to relax. Remember to stay safe!
