Since school began on August 12, students have been required to wear masks indoors, and have been given the choice to wear them outdoors. Here are what some Redwood Rangers have to say about their opinion on masks.
Payton Short, ‘25 understands the district is trying to keep students safe by making them wear masks, but she thinks it should be each individual’s choice to wear a mask or not.
Short then goes on to say, “There’s a lot of factors and inconsistencies to wearing a mask, so I think each student should have the choice because it’s our own health that’s at risk.”
Luke Mueller, ‘24 says, “I get wearing them inside, but wearing them outside is just ridiculous.”
He elaborates on the choice to wear them outside. He believes if a student wants to wear a mask outside, that that’s perfectly fine, everyone has an opinion.
“My opinion is to wear them inside, and take it off outside,” Mueller adds.
Presleigh Anderson, ‘23 doesn’t like wearing masks at all.
She says, “I don’t like wearing them at all, because it’s not fun, and I just don’t think they prevent anything,” she says.
Anderson adds, “Masks are just so nonfunctional and it is so hot wearing one all day.”
Nizhoni Kears, ’22 likes wearing masks to school.
She says, “I don’t find masks uncomfortable or inconvenient at all. I like them because they keep us safe.”
She goes on to say, “due to my compromised immune system, I want to do everything I can to keep myself healthy.”
Megan Shin, ’22 also doesn’t mind wearing a mask.
She states, “I was happy that RHS was taking measures to protect students.”
