ASB, Flag Runners, and Cheer explain how they keep the student section alive during the football games. Flag Runners also explain how difficult it is to run the flags at football games.

Grayson Galley ’30 said, “You just have to go out there and be yourself.” That is what everyone on the track does, entertaining the students every time they come to a game.
Energy helps to move the game in a pumped-up direction, and with the help of ASB, the cheer team, and the flag runners, the student section stays alive.
Grayson Galley ’30 said, “They see us getting out of our comfort zone, so they know that they can do that too.”
Getting out of your comfort zone and being yourself helps students feel like they can do both. And the ASB team are masters at turning the bowl into an amazing place where students thrive. One day the bowl can look like a normal football stadium, and on game night it can become a whole space with aliens and all.
Adrian Lopez Guzman ’27, ASB president, said, “We go all out for the bowl.”
The highly decorated bowl not only gets students hyped up, but it also gets the cheerleaders and the flag runners.
Tired, worn, and still full of enough energy to entertain a ton of crazy teens, Flag runners pour their hearts out at the games, running back and forth and carrying the heavy weight of the flags with the utmost adrenaline. Though they are tired, the thought of a yummy junk food meal is enough to keep them awake.
Landen Everett ’27 said, “Not tired enough to not go to Cane’s after, but tired enough to sleep in my car.”
Though flag running is exhausting, it can also be exhilarating.
Luke Herrema ’28 said, “It’s fantastic! There’s a lot of energy down there on the field, and it feels very different to be in the crowd versus on the field with the players and stuff.”
From dancing to songs like California Gurls and Last Friday Night, to cheering to school chants, Go Big Blue and Party, the cheerleaders always make sure to bring the energy.
Alyson Aguliar ’29 said, “I think the most fun part is actually being able to interact with everyone, and honestly just having fun with my teammates and performing it just brings me a ton of joy.”
Whether it is cheering, dancing, doing push-ups, running back and forth with heavy flags, or making the bowl into a whole different experience every game, Redwood goes all out at the games. And with the help of our very own entertainment and cheer team, that is all possible.
We have amazing energy at our football games because we have people who are striving to keep the students alive at all times, win or lose.
