During the Month of February the Redwood Art students participated in a contest where Riley Bramble placed as a finalist and was able to get in the calendar where her work will be displayed for other individuals to see.
Riley Bramble ‘21 stated that “she was excited to have gotten so far but she was also surprised because she didn’t expect it.” The piece that she decided to create was a class project, but when she got the prompt of what her piece should be about she found it very interesting, so she was able to go off of things from there. It was an overall class project and they all pretty much had to enter the competition but Bramble was very excited to to have an opportunity to be put into the calendar. She’s excited for people to see her piece, but also nervous because she believes that everyone had such wonderful pieces and deserved to have their work displayed as well. Overall it was a fun process and experience for Bramble because she was able to grow as a student and an artist.
Mr.Harris who is one of the art teachers at Redwood states that “ he always aspires for his students to learn, grow, and progress from where they are.” Harris is always proud of students for accomplishing everything that they do every single day and that the awards don’t make the student but it is a great way for the students to get recognized, but every kid is growing in their own way and is taking one step forward which is making him absolutely happy with all of his students. He was inspired to teach art because art is a way of thinking and is a way of describing the world and it goes very well with all of the other subjects, and in our own ways we are always trying to describe the world.
Art is a form of speaking and a way some people express themselves. Bramble is a great example of what can happen when you work hard and do your best. There is so much more talent out there as well. Redwood is just one of many schools that has an art class where people can figure out who they are and how they want to convey it. Art is a way to help encourage others to branch out and it also gives them so many opportunities in life, and is what Mr.Harris and all of the other Art teachers want for their students well pretty much what every teacher wants. Overall art is something that can help get your voice out there so you can be heard and Riley Bramble along with many others are living proof of this.
