The National Honor Choir is hosted by the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
Ben Lozano ‘24 is the only singer from Redwood that made it into the National Honor Choir.
Lozano says, “The event I’m going to is actually part of a 4-day conference where choir directors (such as Mr. Carrillo) come together to learn what’s latest in the choral world, and attend presentations and performances from leaders in that field.”
Lozano expresses his excitement, he says, “To have made it into the High School SATB choir is nothing short of awesome, and I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity.”
When Lozano was asked how he felt about being the only person at Redwood to make it to National Honor Choir he says, “It’s a little daunting, but at the same time, I’m very excited!”
Lozano says that his integrity and pride came from everyone around him pushing him to be the very best version of himself.
Lozano has been singing for a long time, he says, “Unofficially, I’ve sung for as long as I can remember… Officially, I began sophomore year in the fall of 2021, when I auditioned I made it into Chamber and Ranger choir.”
Lozano says, “I’ve gotten to where I am today thanks to Mr. Carrillo and Ms. Board, my family, and my friends in Chamber and Ranger Choir,”
Lozano says, “JOIN CHOIR. I can’t emphasize this enough. No experience required. Even if you have never sung before, try it!”
