Well, it’s very simple, Redwood is now undefeated in the WYL, which means they are now tied for first with Hanford and Golden West. Luckily/unluckily, on October 5, Redwood has a game at Golden West. If Redwood could win that game, they would remain undefeated in the league. However, this won’t be that easy, because Golden West is 3-3 overall, and they’ve been pretty good this season, however, that shouldn’t stop Redwood from remaining undefeated. Golden West is also the reigning DIV Central Valley Champions.

Two of Redwood’s players had this to say when asked about how good they believe Golden West is. Trent Saephan, ’20, believes that, “Golden West usually is not a team to worry about… but this year I’m expecting some competition, and I think it would be a good game.” Daniel Mota, ’19, seemed to strongly agree with Trent, saying that, “I don’t think Golden West is that very good uh… they lost to Mount Whitney last week, and they’re an easy opponent this week.” Clearly, they don’t seem that worried about the game… but DO they?

When asked what he’s worried about, Trent said that the only thing he’s worried about is, “If our defense doesn’t do their jobs… but with how practice is going, I think everyone will get their job done, and we just need to rely on each other, and we’ll be fine.” Mota added that the biggest thing he’s worried about is “us not sticking as a team, and through all four quarters, I think we’ll win… the game”

As you can tell, Redwood really needs to win this game, because if they don’t, Golden West will remain undefeated, and Redwood would fall to one game behind Golden West. So, even though Redwood is away, the game will be held in Visalia in the Groppetti Stadium, so go support your Redwood Rangers on Friday!!!
