Redwood Football goes up against the Golden West Trailbazers on Friday, October 18th. The Rangers have been on a roll with wins after a disappointing start to the season. The Rangers look to continue on with the season-saving comeback.

Golden West has had a tremendous start to the season. Their current record is 6-1.The Rangers aren’t threatened. Tight End #4 Gabe Ward, ’25, says, “I feel good. We’ve made new plays and we’ve developed a lot over the past few games.”

Middle Linebackers #33 Matt Soto, ’26, says ” I feel really good. I’ve said it before, I don’t think our schedule reflects the kind of team that we are. We’ve had some really tough opponents, 4 of which are in the top 10 in D1. I don’t think that Golden West is ready for a team like us. It’s a toss-up, they’re a tough team I’m not gonna say they’re not but so are we and I think we can do something great.”

A win against Golden West determines a high reward for the Rangers.

Offensive Lineman #60 Cristian Carlos, ’25, says ” This game will decide if we are the league champions for our league so I feel that if we come out and play our very best we will win.”

Soto says, “League gets decided tomorrow which is really exciting it’s early on and if we win league we get a home playoff game which would be the first in years.”

The team’s defense has been the highlight of the season turn-around.

Ward says, “We are making lots of plays. Our defense actually has been on top and putting in their work. I feel confident for this game.”

Rangers have really high hopes for the game against Golden West. The Rangers have played only the best of the best and feel that they are now playing with teams that are far more their pace and have no doubt in their ability.

Soto says, “I think it will be a fun game. I’m confident in our ability.”
