The Rangers kick their season off this Friday in Bakersfield, CA. The Redwood Rangers play the Centennial Golden Hawks at Centennial High School. Varsity Football players Brendyn Robledo ’25 and Enrique Segura ’26, have high hopes for the season and the upcoming game.
This is Robledo’s first season on the varsity football team and he has been playing football for a total of eight years. He is excited to play alongside his senior teammates, “I am most looking forward to sharing memories with the seniors that will be gone next season,” he says.
“I would love to get myself a starting spot this season,” Robledo says. Robledo is an offensive tackle this season and would like, “to get myself a pancake this season,” he says.
The term, “pancake” is used by lineman when they get the defensive player flat on their back.
This season will be Segura’s first season with the varsity squad and he’s ready to experience his first Cowhide.
Segura feels like the Rangers are heading in the right direction and they have a good group of players this season. Segura would like to keep improving his game and become a first team EYL (East Yosemite League) Linebacker.
“I’m just looking forward to win with all my guys and most of them are on their last year so this means a lot to me,” he says.
