This specific tournament had their qualification with a round of nine holes the day before, and those who got the lowest score moved on to Dinuba High. The players from Redwood that qualified were, Jaxon Mayo, ’24, Devin Fleming, ’24, and Beau Krauss, ’28.

Ryan Jack, ’25, is a varsity member of the men’s golf team. He did not make the cut for the tournament this time around, but he explains how this was a great athletic learning experience. He says, “It kinda sucks, but I think that it better prepares me mentally, and this experience betters myself all around. Leading into this year and to my senior year, I can play off season so that helps me a lot.”

Devin Fleming, ’24, shares the benefits of this experience as well as advice for the underclassmen on his team. He says, “Just keep practicing, I know it’s a tough sport but just keep going out there, and eventually you get better.”

Jaxson Mayo, ’24, is the captain of the Redwood Golf team. He adds on to Fleming’s reflection on his senior season. He says, “There’s a lot to take in, there are only a few of us, and it’s pretty stressful, because these younger kids are looking up to us.”

He continues, “We make sure to uplift them everyday, and we make sure to tell them that they are a lot better than our previous captains even at a level that they are in.”

Beau Krauss, ’28, one of the underclassmen, says, “After reflecting from the tournament, I can say that I did pretty good, there are little things that I need to work on and tweak but this helps me for the future tournaments but overall I was impressed with how I did.”
