Redwood High School’s Drama club, aims to boost students’ confidence through improv shows, community involvement, and creative expressions, as highlighted by its ’25-’26 officers.

One of the oldest clubs at Redwood High School, the Redwood Drama club is going on its 70th year running, here’s what its ’25-’26 officers tell members to look forward too.

Redwood drama club is ready and looking forward to meeting their new members, they want their new and returning members to start looking forward to their club meetings, and the improv shows they do each year.

Brynnlie Travis, ’26, Drama club president, “ The  purpose of drama club is really to just give students the confidence to perform.”

Brynnlie encourages students to join drama clubs and put their creativity into a creative outlet. Students can come and play games and express themselves, and even be a part of their Improv Show.

Liam Bradfordd ’26, Co-Vice President, said “ Yeah we have a lot of fun, twice a year,we do an improv show, we do one in the fall, and one in the spring.”

Liam hopes students will come to dramaclub and just have fun and enjoy themselves, he hopes it will give students the confidence to try out for the Musical.

The improv show in the fall, is between all the schools in VIsalia Unified and their drama clubs. They all come together to perform improv and have fun.

Rozalia Longbottom, ’27, treasurer, said, “ I think that they [New and old Members] should get excited that they have an opportunity to be in an improv show and meet a bunch of new people that they might not have gotten a chance to meet if they weren’t in drama club”

The drama club officers are very excited about the opportunities their members will have this year. The Redwood Drama club is very involved throughout the community outside of Redwoods campus as well.

Stacy Galvan, Drama teacher and club advisor, said, “ We help out the Enchanted Playhouse if they need people to come help them with stuff. Vostler Farms Field of Screams, we provide actors for them sometimes for that.”

Alex Espinoza, ’26, secretary, when talking about the purpose of drama club said, “ it is very much to get comfortable in front of an audience and have fun and just learn how to present yourself, because it’s a lot to get up on stage and express yourselves in ways that might be silly.”

When it comes to school spirit and getting involved, the drama club doesn’t shy away either. They always participate in Homecoming, and chowhide for the carnival.

Kai Korsgaden, ’26, Co-Vice President, said “ we always participate in the Homecoming parade, and the cowhide, we have a tradition, for the carnival, we always do glitter tattoos and temporary tattoos.”

Drama club is always getting involved in the Redwood community, and Visalia’s community as well. Join drama club, they meetings are every Tuesday at lunch  in the drama room on sierra vista campus.

Travis, said to join drama club because “the arts and performing is such an important part because you perform when you get up to give a slideshow. You perform when you start a new conversation, everything you do involves putting yourself out there, and it’s important that you practice that because when you shy away and when you are complacent, that’s when ideas die, and that we need more creativity in our world.”
