Redwood Cross Country is currently preparing for their meet on Friday at Mooney Grove, where they will be running the 5K (3 miles).
The team has been nothing short of impressive, they started running early in the morning to beat the heat, and kept going without complaints.
Hunter Skoglund ’25 has been running for Redwood since his freshman year and is the team captain this year. To prepare he has been running consistently, showing up to practice, and putting in his all.
Skoglund comments on running the 5K for the meet, he says, “It’s not too bad, I’ve done longer events, like running nine and half miles,”
Skoglund says, “Before my meet, I’m gonna do the two most important things you can do, eat a big meal before and stay hydrated.”
Grace Hyatt ’25 is running for Varsity her sophomore year, Hyatt knows all too well about teamwork and how to tell everyone is prepared.
Hyatt says, “I think all of us are prepared, the training that we have been doing really helped us. We have been running long distances and doing track work, I think we’re ready for the season.”
Daniel Hernandez ’25 is running the 5k on the frosh team, Hernandez says, “I’m just practicing hard and making sure I don’t mess around that much,”
Miranda Rojas ’25 compliments the girls on her team, Rojas says, “This year there is a lot of good runners for girls,”
Rojas thinks the girls are prepared for this Friday meet because everyone has been dedicated to running; especially, this past week.
Rojas says, “Before the meet this Friday, I’m just going to think to myself ‘I can do this’ and try not to think negatively. You have to think positive before you run,”
