Fresno, CA- On Wednesday, September 5th, Redwood Boys Water Polo faced off against Bullard. The team lost 16-8 but won overall as they reflect on the start of their season.
The Rangers have started the season 4-5 in the pool while kicking off preseason games. Samuel Feierbach, ’25, who put up 2 goals in the loss to Bullard talks about what the team can do to improve, saying, “Emotions are a big thing, a lot of us get heated.”
Feierbach is looking forward to the rest of the season, saying the goals are, “to come closer together as a team and to win Valley.”
The boys also faced some challenges as a team during the game. Caleb Solis, ’26, a younger player on the varsity squad explains some troubles with the offense, saying, “Moving the ball, I think we kind of struggle with that.”
Solis also gives credit to some of Bullard’s key players, saying, “We did not pay enough attention to them, so that’s basically the reason why we lost.”
Even though the boys have struggled, their big wins against Tulare Western and San Joaquin Memorial have highlighted the start of the season. Cody Burton, ’25, talks about how the team can get better, saying, “We can communicate in the pool better and work together.”
On Thursday, September 14th, the Rangers are on the road to take on Sanger as they look to get a win before league play starts.
The Rangers start East Yosemite League playing against El Diamante on September 26th at 4:00pm at home.
